Create new cross referenced record via datafeed
Hoping that somebody has already tackled this problem & can provide some guidance.
Two applications, A & B.
App A sucks in data from an external source, creating new records, on a regular basis. These records will be created in batches. The records in each batch share some commonality. Each one of these records needs to be linked to ONE record in App B, essentially creating a parent/child relationship. Initially the record in App B will need to be created. Therein lies the problem. How to create a new record in an application & link it to multiple records in another application.
I believe that a datafeed will need to be run on the application holding the child records, so that they can all be linked to a single parent, but I'm not sure of the setup.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
I’m not entirely sure how I would put this together, but I’m wondering if you can set some sort of token on the datafeed, and set it to Batch-1, Batch-2, etc. incrementing each time the datafeed is run.
This token could then be used in a static text calculated field to be the key for the record in App B. I’m assuming that records from previous batches will not be in the new files?
I’m probably way off base though!
Looking forward to hear how you get on.
Perhaps I'm missing something here, but if your Datafeed is populating Application A, you can still map your record to application B, & when configuring it “Add unknown values”, which will create the new app B record, mapped to A.
As long as you’ve got the Key field sorted.
