Database only upgrade 6.1
If I have a dev environment at version 6.1 and I want to import a later version of the database from production (version 5.5.) Can I upgrade just this database using the 6.1 installer by just selecting the database component?
Suzie you can do it that way or open the Archer Control Panel and select the instance, It should detect that the database is at a lower version ask if you want to upgrade it.
Being you are restoring a prod instance database in development if you haven't already you might want to clear out the mail setting in the Archer Control Panel so notifications don't fire.
Hi David Petty, how does it work in the below scenario:
Dev environment with 2 servers (pri/sec) pointing to 1 db server at v5.5 SP2. We want to create our own sandbox for training/POC and we are analyzing if we can upgrade sec server to v6.2; while using the same db. I understand that once we point v6.2 to existing db, it asks to upgrade it. Now, if we go ahead and upgrade the db, can this db be still used by v5.5?
Definitely not Pierre. The database versions are non-interchangeable and have to match the version installed on the web/application severs.
Why don't you just backup the 5.5 SP2 database and restore it to a new database and then have your training/POC point to that database instead?
Thanks much David for such a quick turnaround!
Backup/restore to a new database is what we have planned..but just wanted to skip the 3 week turnaround, if possible Thanks again!
