Looking to calculate URL string to either PROD or TEST target web sites based on where application is running.
basic pseudo logic:
If [Archer Instance Name] = Archer_PROD use http://myVendorProdSite
(we also concatenate the string with record ID parameter - so not simply just the 2 values for URL strings)
saw some articles with custom objects - but was wondering if this can be determined in a calculated field.

you can use a little trick here:
- Create a new dummy group in all of your environments (make sure you map these properly during package install). Check if the goups all have different IDs (hover in the list of groups). If not, delete and re-create the group.
- Create a Record Permission Field (automated) in all the applications you want to have a "environment aware" calculated field in. Assign for example read permissions to this dummy group (make sure no users are assigned to the dummy group).
- In your calculated field, SUM([Name of the record permission field]) returns the ID of your dummy group. So you can determine in which environment you are. We ususally create an additional "Environment" field that we can use in many other calculated fields that abstracts the logic with the group IDs.
Not elegant but works 😉 Hope this helps.
