How do I make a list based on a XReference?
I have a cross-reference field of devices and I want to make either a values list or a cross-reference field whose selection values are limited to the devices selected in the first cross-reference field. Maybe its easier than I'm making it out to be. Has anyone done this before?

You should be able to do what you want by configuring similar to this:
Create a second cross reference field that references Devices. In this second cross reference, you can apply a filter in the Record Lookup Configuration section. In the Filters, Field to Evaluate, select the first cross reference field to Devices. In the Operator selection, choose "Field Value Match".
In general, the idea is to limit the records in the second cross reference based on what is selected from the first selection. Using the "Field Value Match" should accomodate this.
Without seeing your screen, I would say that you do not have any records that meet the criteria of the filter or you do not have any records in the application you are cross-referencing. If you want, go ahead and add a screenshot.
So these are my xref fields to the same application. Within TEST Cross Ref 2 I try to point the filter to look at TEST Cross Ref, but theres nothing to select.
I have three records in TEST Application that have TEST Cross Ref populated. So why isn't this filter giving me options to filter with?
I did something similar in a different instance. Here is what my screen looks like.
For your situation, go to the field properties of [Test Cross Ref 2] and set the Filters for row 1 as follows:
Field to Evaluate = [Test Cross Ref 2]
Operator = Field Value Match
Value(s) = Test Cross Ref 1
If this does not work, try changing Field to Evaluate to [Test Cross Ref 1]
The first screenshot is using TEST Cross Ref 1 for Field To Evaluate, and this is when I use TEST Cross Ref 2. This is all in TEST Cross Ref 2. I can try to recreate the fields again, but for some reason the fields done see each other.
How do you have Cross Ref 1 set up? Remember you are wanting to use this as a filter for Cross Ref 2. For example:
Cross Ref 1: (lists car brands: Honda, Toyota, Nissan)
Cross Ref 2: (for the brand selected, display the models. If Honda is selected, then only show records where brand is Honda):
- Honda Pilot
- Honda Accord
- Honda Civic
- Honda ...
I'm trying to say "If these records are selected from xref 1, you can only have those records as an option in xref 2"
xref 1: record 1, record 2, and record 3 out of 50 records were chosen
xref 2: records 1-3 (chosen from xref 1) are the only options you can choose
so, xref 1 is just pointing to an application with the Tracking ID being the only display field
