How to store the previous status of a field into another field
I have a requirement where I would like to store the value of a field into another. This is just to have a track of prior status.
Now, in my calculations, I was using [FIELDNAME]. with this if I am changing the field value, the calculation is changing. I would wanted to retain the value when the record is created and it should not be changed.
Is there any way to do this.

Yes there is, and you are very close to the solution. The only change I think you need to make is to modify the calculation order of your fields. The field that is archiving the prior status needs to calculate before the field it is mirroring. This way it will always be one calculation cycle behind.
Hi Manasa -
If you don't mind sharing, how did you go about storing the 'prior value' in the second field without it changing with scheduled recalculation jobs? I have a use case to provide this functionality but am not able to maintain the previous value of the field reference beyond the daily recalculation job.
Ideally, what we would like to have is the value of a field at time of submission maintained indefinitely that represents the value at time of submission that will not change over time, and a new calculated field reference of the field to indicate: 1. if changed, and 2. what changed. The only other way we can see to provide this is through review of the history log, which does not scale in our record review process for metric reporting.
Hi Ilya -
How would you recommend adding configuration in the [Previous Value] so that we can maintain the field integrity at the time of submission? Basically we want to set the [Previous Value] field and have it remain unchanged as a value for reference to the [Current Value]. I'm not finding configuration to provide this functionality.
If you want to have field, with populated once value and then never changed:
New Field called Initial Value:
If you need it to be always previous, and changed per current value change:
New Field Past Value:
[Value Changed] = "Yes",
