Migrate service server to (Web+service) server
We are planning to migrate 1 service server to (service+web) server incase our 2 web servers fails in production environment . Is it recommended considering the fact we don't have capacity to buy another new VM and server ?
We have presently 2 Service server in production .
Please note we are not running any Advance workflow in our environment presently , but will this approach will affect in future if we change our service server to (service+web) server ?
What if you installed all components on all 4 servers (Web + AWF + Services).
Then, just don't put the 2 services servers behind the load balanced URLs.
Similarly, don't start Job Engines on Web+AWF servers.
In the event of a problem with both of any pair, you can correct with a load balancer change or starting additional services.
Hi BJ Johnson
Can we apply this concept for a Production environment and will it be ideally feasible ? Will it not have any impact on the Job services ?
I am curious with the Performance tuning how it will get affected if we implement the above approach which you mentioned above ?
There hasn't been any removal or addition of systems or resources so you shouldn't see any degradation.
Exploring the configuration in a non-prod environment to develop a comfort level is recommended, but yes that should work for a prod environment as well.
Caveats: If you are having performance issues now, this will not solve them; it simply provides flexibility for resiliency and a simplified deployment model.
