SQL Data feed Error: ...they do not possess a common algorithm
A data feed to a SQL server is faulting and throwing the error message listed below. It appears to be related to SSL, but we are not sure how. Other SQL connections are working, and manually logging into the SQL server and running the query is also working. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
"An unexpected error has occurred: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm)"
I don't have much visibility in log files or I would provide more information. Any help is much appreciated.
I will try and retrieve that information from our internal support teams.
In the meantime I can state that we are upgrading TLS enterprise wide. Forgive me for the lack of expertise/knowledge, but would different versions of SSL/TLS cause issues, or would it be related to a certain relationship of versions of SSL/TLS?
Resolution identified - Pending confirmation:
My support team found that we were recently upgraded to a TLS 1.2 on our Archer environment; however, the version we are on (Early 5.x) does not support this version of TLS. Luckily, we are upgrading to a new 6.x version this weekend and our test environments indicate that it will be resolved. I will post if this does not fix our issue.
You can use a third party tool called IIS Crypto (https://www.nartac.com/Products/IISCrypto) to read, enable or disable protocols, ciphers, hashes and key exchange algorithms.
Archer-to-Archer data feeds will not work in versions older than Archer 5.5 SP4 P4 (18.104.22.168) if TLS 1.0 is disabled...see ARCHER-31170 in the RSA Archer GRC Platform 5.5 SP4 Release Notes, Patch 9.
