Version Control for RSA Archer
But Archer is all about the application configuration mainly (except some custom codes, JS feeds, etc). How you are going to use version control for it?
Unless you document each and every change in the Excel, let us say, and submit excel to CVS.
Or you plan to have all the DB, company_files, repository to be submitted for control?
I am not aware of any robust version control integrations available with Archer. Here are a few possible approaches depending on your particular needs
Check-in the contents of the package zip
- Probably lots of things that will show up as changes that are not
- Complicated to understand changes
- Little to no tracking to who made the change
- Only updates when the package files are imported
Audit tracking. Fair warning there is little to no documentation on the message contents. I have not looked to closely at it but it may be possible to wrap the SNMP messages into a structure and naming convention that could be checked in. this would provide a list of changes.
Check in generated application detail reports
I looked through the existing requests on the idea exchange but did not find anything. It would be worthwhile to add an idea with your particular needs I am sure other customers have the same desire to be able to track changes made to their archer instance.
