When do we go for Subforms over Cross Reference.
Hello, I am a newbie to the Archer community, Can any one tell me the scenario's when i ve to choose Subforms over Cross Refference. As far as i have learnt both kind of serves the same business needs, is there any significant difference between these two fields.
There's a lot of difference. A sub-form doesn't have DDEs or Permissions available, to start. You also cannot generate notifications out of a sub-form, or it's field on the parent changing.
There is a lot involved in how they are different. First would be that subforms are part of the parent application, more speifically to the user the subform is part of that record. As such any information entered into the subform is related directly to the record being edited. Reporting on the subform is through the parent record also. On the other hand information stored in a related application through cross reference can be referenced many places.
