Redis is an open source (BSD licensed), in-memory data structure store, used as a database, cache and message broker. It supports data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets with range queries, bitmaps, hyperlogs, geospatial indexes with radius queries and streams. Redis has built-in replication, Lua scripting, LRU eviction, transactions and different levels of on-disk persistence, and provides high availability via Redis Sentinel and automatic partitioning with Redis Cluster.
Redis integration supports caching capabilities to speed data queries within RSA Archer. As users search or review records, APIs call the middle tier to return meta data such as application information, field types, field names, cross references and more. Successive API requests do not remember the meta data that was returned in the previous call, so the same meta data may be queried each time causing inefficiencies. With Redis caching, the meta data query only occurs once, reducing the middle tier and database load while speeding the response time for users.
