Product Set: Archer Product/Service Type: Archer (On-Premise)/ Archer (SaaS) Version/Condition: 6.x Platform: Windows Server 2012 R2/ Windows Server 2016/ Windows Server 2019 Component/s:Retrieving jobs in Archer Control Panel
When the user is trying to retrieve a Running Jobs/ Available Jobs/ All Jobs/ Completed Jobs/ Failed jobs under the Jobs tab under the Job Engine Manager in the Archer Control Panel. The user is getting the error "Unable to retrieve Jobs for the following instance”.
The reason the error "Unable to retrieve Jobs for the following instance” is being displayed when you retrieve job under the Job Engine Manager in the Archer Control Panel because the account (username) is used to open the Archer Control Panel does not have to the Instance Database. To fix this, you will need to elevate the current account being used in the database and give the account the dbowner to the instance Database.
To find out what account is used to open the Archer Control Panel
Open the "Task Manager" on the Archer server that is running the Job Engine.
Go to the "Details" tab.
Look for the "ArcherTech.ControlPanel.exe" process and check "Username" and note down the username.
Then use the SQL Management Studio and find out if the "username" has a "dbowner" permission to the Instance Database
Open the SQL Management Studio and login to SQL server.
Expand the "Databases" > Security > right click the "username" > Properties
Click on the Instance database you are using > select "db_owner" > Click ok [if you have multiple Instance Databases you will need to do this step for each Instance Database]
After granting each Instance Database the "db_owner" permission it looks as the following.
After granting the "username" the "dbowner" permission to the Instance Database,
Now open the Archer Control Panel with the same "username" > go to Job Engine Manager > Jobs tab > click on any jobs under the Job Queue or Instrumentation you will be able to retrieve the jobs.
