RSA Archer Solutions & Use Cases Documentation Survey

The purpose of this survey is to gather information regarding the RSA Archer Solutions & Use Cases documentation.   The RSA Archer Online Documentation can be found by clicking the question mark in the upper right-hand corner of your RSA Archer instance.   Once you have accessed the RSA Archer Online Documentation, the Solutions & Use Cases documentation can be found under the Solutions & Use Cases dropdown.   There are many different types of documentation for each use case. However, each use case contains at least the following sections: Overview topic that provides a high-level understanding of the use case. Design topic that describes the architectural design of the use case. Installation instructions - installation task overview, package install steps, and post-install clean up - that help you install your use case from start to finish.     For us to create a better user assistance experience, we’d like to gather some information around: How the RSA  Archer Solutions & Use Cases documentation is being used by our customers today? What existing content is most useful for our customers? Records page and workflow user experience

The Experience Design team at RSA Archer has been working on enhancements to the records page, and today we want to hear feedback from you. In past UX working group sessions, you may have seen iterations of the records page and workflow experiences. We have come up with a couple options based on your most recent feedback that we believe will improve the end users’ experience.   What are we trying to achieve with the records page ? Ultimately, we want our end user to do their jobs easily and efficiently.   We want to: Help end users see what is most important on the records page. Help end users understand what to do on a records page by prioritizing buttons and information.   Our challenges: In focusing on the presentation of buttons and how information is organized on the page, these are challenges we are working to resolve with your help and input: How do we balance an intuitive experience for our occasional user but also accommodate the muscle memory and current behaviors of frequent users? How do we maintain consistency and accommodate different priorities in records with and without advanced workflow?   We heard you. We gathered feedback about the current record page experience.     Major Pain Points:  It’s ­hard to understand what action to take and how. “TOO. MANY. BUTTONS.” “Our users complain that buttons and options where they need to enter information are all over the page.” “Too many buttons on the screen; hide buttons that cannot be used by the end user; not greyed out but removed.”   After many rounds of feedback from our community and internal stakeholders, we want to share the most recent iterations of the record page with you. In this round we focused more on the workflow experience and provided an experience that helps the user understand what to do next with minimal confusion.   The designs you are about to see are prototyped design concepts. Actual experiences may vary. Records page without a workflow:   We have two options for workflow experiences we’d like you to weigh in on. Please fill out the survey at the end of this post.   OPTION A: We have placed “Save” and “Save and Close” options under the “Actions” dropdown. The number of potential workflow actions can be as high as 10, so we wanted to minimize the noise on the page and provide an easier way to scan workflow options in a vertical menu. We placed saving options under the same menu at the end of the list and provided additional context for the end user. We labeled and grouped actions that advanced the record in the workflow, and options that did not advance the record (Save and Save and Close).   OPTION B: We have placed the workflow action drop down first because it is the primary button. We are displaying “Save” and “Save and Close” after the workflow visualization and have styled it as a secondary button. Additionally, we included messaging that helps users understand that “Save” and “save and close” do not advance the record in the workflow.         We value your input and would like to hear your thoughts on these designs. UX Feedback Needed: Advanced Search

The purpose of the post is to gather information regarding the use of Advanced Search. We're early in the process and want to better understand goals/challenges.   Search is one of the most critical features in RSA Archer today as users need to be able to locate things quickly and easily.   Today, there are 2 places to run a search in RSA Archer: 1) Global Search (located in the top-right area of the Global Header) and 2) Advanced Search. The Global Search searches all of RSA Archer using a keyword or phrase like Google. Advanced Search, which also has keyword search, has more bells and levers to pull to in order to construct a more thorough search.   To get to the Advanced Search screen, the user must first go to the Main Navigation menu, select a Workspace -> Solution -> Application. Then they select the magnifying glass.     Advanced Search allows a user to construct a search by building relationships between different applications and then tailoring the results to meet the business goals. It allows the user to customize what fields appear in a report and filter/sort/group the results. For example, I may want to find all the risks labeled “Critical” and “High” across these 8 applications and thru 5 different search paths.  Due to the complexity of Advanced Search, Power Users/Sys Administrators often created canned reports to aid business users to find data.   To coin a popular Marvel comics phrase: "With great power comes great responsibility”. To effectively harness the power of Advanced Search, the user experience must be simple to understand for all users .  Our customers have repeatedly told us that this screen can be overwhelmingly complex and frustrating. Most business users relate to the simplicity of a Google Search rather than RSA Archer’s complex search screen. 6.7 - Will record and report buttons be separated?

I forgot to ask or notice this at charge, will record and report buttons be separated in 6.7?   In the search results and (now) navigation, the buttons are: Record (New) Report (modify) Report (save) Report (Reports) Record (Delete, for inline editing and bulk update)   I've been doing a lot of designing around inline editing and my users get very confused.  The "big save" isn't for records, it's for report.  New isn't for new search, it is for new record.  I as a sysadmin even confuse myself sometimes and click "New" wanting to do a new search.  I also end up really really wishing "delete" was for delete report, rather than deleting records.  Ideally though the "record" buttons and the "report" buttons would be grouped together and separate from one another.   ... Summary Findings from Color Settings Survey

Authored by Van Vuong (Posted by Denise Sposato) SUMMARY of FINDINGS: COLOR SETTINGS SURVEY Based on 76 respondents of this survey, the top reasons why color settings are use is to distinguishing environments (77%) and to adhere to corporate branding standards (77%). This is followed by users needing to make content more readable (59%) and those wanting to make the interface more visually appealing (51%).   We asked if users agreed with the following statement: “If RSA Archer offered a clean, neutral, user friendly interface, I would not need to adjust the color settings. (Assuming you will have ways to distinguish environments)”. 26% of respondents neither agreed or disagreed, 22% strongly disagreed, 21% disagreed, 20% agreed, and 11% strongly agreed.   Many respondents said they had requests from other partners to change color settings.
