How to upload files onto the RSA SFTP server

Article Number

Applies To

RSA Product Set: All RSA Products
Platform: RSA SFTP, RSA Case Management Portal

Issue

How can I upload files to RSA Customer Support if the files are too large to upload directly to my support case?

Resolution

  1. You need to have any type of SFTP Client to use it to upload the file to RSA SFTP server, you can use WinSCP For example.
  2. You will add the RSA SFTP server as a new site once you open your SFTP Client and you need to make sure that:
    • The File protocol used is SFTP
    • The Hostname: sftp.rsa.com
    • Port Number: 22
    • User name: support
    • Password: Password1
  3. Click Save so you can use this session later directly and you can name it with any name to remember it easily and you can also select to save the password if you don't want to enter it again each time you login.

  1. Then you can login to it easily by Clicking on the site icon and then click login (If you did not save the password it will ask you to enter the password again).

  1. Then you need to navigate to the incoming folder in the right side of the screen which represent the SFTP server.
Note that you might see an error here just ignore it.

  1. On the left side of the screen which represents your machine you can navigate to the file you want to upload then Right Click on that file and select Upload.
    • Note:  Make sure to use this stamp as your file name to make it possible for Customer Support to know which file exactly to search for to avoid any possible issues regarding mixing files "RSA Case [ <Put your case number here> ]  Your file name ".

  2. Uploading might take time depending on the client you use, the size of the file, and your network speed.
  3. After the uploading finishes, an error will be prompted but you can just skip it, it is normal and just related to how much access you have on our server.

  4. After that you can E-mail the engineer assigned to your support case with your file name so he can download them from his side (Remember to use the naming stamp mentioned in step no.6)

Notes

  • These screenshots are from WinSCP but it will be the same steps and idea using any other SFTP Client.
  • The naming stamp is critical so the files doesn't get mixed with other customer's files and cause any inconvenience for your support.
  • You can not upload folders using this method only files and if you need to upload a folder just convert it to zip or rar file then upload it.
