NetWitness Logs & Network Health and Wellness shows there is a hardware fault when there isn't one. The Dell iDrac also shows the hardware faulty.
For example, the iDrac is displaying 2 faulty power supplies when the appliance is working.
The ipmitool output also shows the hardware fault, but the logs also show the fault occurred years ago and the faults were "Deasserted" for fault cleared.
A display error in the iDrac, is carried through into the operating system (CentOS), and hence the incorrect fault status appears in the NeWitness Health & Wellness reporting.
Try each of the following until the incorrect faults are cleared in the iDrac.
Reset the iDrac card. Login to the iDrac and press the "Reset iDrac" link in the Quick Launch Tasks of the Overview screen.
The normal running of the appliance is not affected during a iDrac card reset.
Wait about 5 minutes for the iDrac card to reset, log back into the iDrac, and check the PSU status.
Power cycle the appliance. Arrange a time to power off the appliance. Remove both power cables. Press the power button on the front of the appliance for about 15 seconds to remove any remaining trickle charge. If the part been incorrectly reported as faulty is hot-swappable, like the PSUs then remove and re-insert. Reconnect the power cables, power on the appliance.
Upgrade the BIOS and iDrac firmware. Check in the iDrac under Server Information under the Overview screen for the current running versions of BIOS (BIOS Version) and iDrac firmware (Firmware Version and Lifcycle Controller Fimrware), and compare with the latest supported versions.
Upgrade the iDrac firmware where a newer version is available.
The iDrac card firmware can be updated without power cycling the appliance.
