Alert when alerter service is stopped
Hello,
I would like to fire an alert if someone stops a view or the alerter service itself.
If a single view is stopped I can catch the event %NIC-5-608027: Alerter, Alerter, -, -, -, -, Detail: 3764: 729 view=NIC_View stopped.
However, if the service is stopped those events are not generated by enVision. furthernore, how to detect that the view monitoring those stops is stopped?
Anyone has a solution to this ?
Thanks,
Fred

You will have to use a third party monitoring tool, like nagios, sitescope, SCOM etc. I use Sitescope to monitor the services. Envision can't alert you if the alerter is stopped. 😉 You could have an alert when the Alerter service starts again, but this assumes that the person didn't just shut if off to avoid detection

608014 NIC message is generated everytime alerter service is started and this can be used to detect when alerter was restarted. We dont have any NIC message to tell when the alerter service was stopped. Yes ofcourse Alerter does generate 608027 message for each view stop during graceful alerter shutdown.
