Cancelling A Running Report
After attempting to cancel a task(report job) and confirming via the help notes I was following the correct process, my task(report job) remained in a "cancelling job" state for about 40 minutes. My question....... Is there a way to cancel an Envison scheduled task(report job) Immediatelyl cancel this task (by process id, job name, task id, etc) if that action does not work after doing so via the Managed Reports Window?

Well, I'm not sure that this would work, but have you tried just restarting the NIC reporting service? That process used to crash when we were running too many large reports at the same time, and the running reports were just dropped (please note that it can leave some relatively large files behind on the aserv when this happens).
I haven't had the problem since the early days (I think it was in 3.3.1), but it is probably worth a try.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did you ever identify the cause of this issue? Our reports stop running about every 3-4 days. They show the same behavior when I try to cancel them. I haven't had much luck with support trying to find a root cause. I can always just restart the services, or reboot the boxes, but that will never fix the issue.
Thanks for any help.

Check a couple of things:
Look at the E: drive on your A-SRV - is it full? That will cause the reporting feature to stop working.
Also...check the report temp directory, E:\nic\4000\<site-name>\tmp on the A-SRV. See the asatxxxx.tmp files? Those are the report temp files. I think you can delete them.
