Duplicate Devices Report
If I am reading your request correctly you should simply be able to go into Overview -> System Configuration -> Devices -> Manage Monitored Devices and sort the "Name" column and generate a report with the Report button at the bottom of the window.
I understand I can do that, but it would be more useful if could have a report only showing the duplicate entries, regarding the name field. It's more difficult to track down with you have more than 2000 rows to look through.
My real problem is that network administrators forget to source route from a loopback address on their routers. If they don't specify a loopback address, we have the same router being discovered on the same collector with different IP addresses, but the same name.
Because we have so many devices it would be useful to run a report displaying monitored devices with the same name, not IP address.
I think ultimately what is desired here is the ability to run a query along these lines (field and table names fabricated to provide an example only - this WON'T work):
SELECT COUNT(*), ResolvedDeviceName FROM DEVICEDATA WHERE ATTRIBUTETYPE='RESOLVEDNAME' GROUP BY ResolvedDeviceName HAVING COUNT(*) > 1
Lovely in theory, but unfortunately the Report Wizard isn't quite all that sophisticated.
I run the following sql from startISQ.cmd.
FROM device_information a CROSS JOIN device_list b
WHERE a.devid = b.devid AND a.catid = 9 AND a.attid = 2 AND b.dclass NOT LIKE '%SYSTEM%'
GROUP BY b.paddr
HAVING ( COUNT(b.paddr) > 1 )
ORDER BY b.paddr
