NIC Server performance burning up CPU
Since the first of the year, we have had numerous issues with envision. It has crashed many times in the past month where it used to be stable. We are seeing high cpu for NIC Server. When I run a Process Monitor for NIC Server, I see lots of reads for the idw files for what appears to be every device. We use a 3rd party NAS. There is less data today than during most of last year. So explaing why envision is struggling in the past month is difficult.
Is this a normally occurring process, or possibly an indication of an issue? Are there other know nevents thta could cause this?
Any other ideas? Upgrading the platform/patch level is not possible.

Hello:
This is James Rafferty, Manager of the RSA enVision Support Team.
First off, thank you for your inquiry...I apologize that you're seeing a number of issues with our RSA enVision product, however, I am confident we can assist.
Looking at your concerns, this scenario could be a bit more complex to try troubleshoot over this forum...and may warrant an investigation by a member of our Support Team. Depending on what major revision/patch level you're currently at will also help us determine next steps.
Would you be able to open a Support Case with us?
Please email NIC-Support@rsa.com and supply a serial number in your enVision environment so that we can confirm your Support Contract.
Should you not have an active enVision Support contract with us at this time, I invite you to contact me directly by email james.rafferty@rsa.com and we'll see what we can do to help.

But thanks for the response.

Understood.
I realize you said upgrading at this time was not possible. However, RSA enVision is up to 4.1 SP1 Patch 4, (which just released recently)...it incorporates many fixes and enhancements, including ones to address some CPU issues we have seen.
Ideally, with active support, not only can we provide you latest binaries but we can further investigate into the current state of what is taxing your environment and possibly suggest some streamlining if there is some to be had. My thoughts are, however, you may be missing some critical fixes.
Should you decide to pursue Support, whether via Time and Materials and/or an active Support Contract, please do contact me directly...as we would happy to get your enVision environment in a healthier state.
Thank you for using our forum.

Hi Fozzy:
We may want to start a new thread on this...however, if you're attempting to install the latest Patch 4 on an EA, it certainly should not be prompting you to install Patch 3. Our patches are cumulative. Furthermore, the installer "should" be the same regardless of the environment. If your information is accurate, this one sounds like a possible bug...are you able to open a Support Case with us to investigate your findings?

And US will see what they can do for me.....

I have download it again and the size and result is the same.
It says install Patch4, but the the Installer shift to b0275_Patch03.
Kind regards
