Report Sort Output

On the sorting for a report you can put ascending or descending next to multiple fields…

How do you determine what are the primary and secondary sort fields?  Does this depend on the layout of the fields and possibly the fields higher in the list are primary?  I hope this is't the case because I may not want the sorted field as my left-most fields on the report..

Unfortunately, as you guessed, the sort order is determined by the column order.  This would be an enhancement to add ability to disconnect the sort order from the column order

Seems like it would be a fairly easy addition to have a sort order column that you could use to order the fields..
