AWS RDS database restore question
We are migrating from a virtual on prem version of RSA IGL (7.1.1) using a RSA supplied database to version 7.2.2 in AWS EC2 with an AWS RDS remote db. Is there a guide for best practice to follow when we need to restore the RDS DB from backup?
When you restore a RDS database from a backup, the restored database is moved to a new DB instance, so the connection strings to the DB all have to be updated after any restore. According to AWS documentation you cannot restore from a DB snapshot to an existing DB instance. Is there a guide to change the application configuration to change all the pointers to the new RDS DB instance?

Thanks! this is what i'm looking for, not sure how i missed it in the guide. appreciate the quick reply.
I've seen other AWS customers recommend using a CNAME DNS entry so if a DB change is required we just change it at DNS rather than on the application side. Do you see any issues with that method vs using the method in the guide?
A different way without having to rely on DNS is to basically:
1. Rename old DB
2. Create new DB from snapshot using original name of the first DB
3. Associate any read replica's to the new DB
4. Terminate the old DB and snapshots
This retains the DNS name for the DB.
