RSA Announces the Availability of RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance 7.0 Release

RSA announces the availability of the RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance (RSA Via L&G) version 7.0 release.  This major release contains numerous product improvements as summarized below.  Please reference the Release Notes for additional information about the contents of this release (https://knowledge.rsasecurity.com/scolcms/set.aspx?id=10878).


Product improvements included in this major release:

Resiliency & Effectiveness
We have made exciting improvements by designing RSA Via L&G to ensure that all access changes have a verifiable audit trail of validation, so that customers can automatically verify that any new access has been properly requested and approved. In addition to ensuring people gain the access they need and access is compliant with policy, this process helps improve organizationsÕ cybersecurity as well. With this capability, customers can now break the cyber attack chain by detecting and responding to malicious actors who are granting themselves new privileges through a compromised account. Additionally, there is a ""circuit breaker"" capability which allows the ability to detect unexpected large changes during collection and hold these collections for analysis prior to processing allowing for less errors downstream and more business productivity.

Enterprise Scalability and Performance Improvement
With the 7.0 release, we improve the way that customers attain continuous compliance while improving business efficiency. With this release specifically, improved data collection performance helps enable near-real-time visibility into user access rights - closing the loop faster for both faster delivery of authorized access to business users, and faster detection and remediation of inappropriate access. Additionally, we have improved and streamlined our high availability clustering and disaster recovery capabilities, delivering continuous uptime to support an automated identity lifecycle in global organizations.

Integration to the Security Ecosystem
RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance 7.0 integrates with other products within RSA and strengthens customersÕ abilities to manage identities and risk. RSA Via L&G is engineered to work with RSA Via Access to provide governance policies and processes for user authentication rights. RSA Via L&G is built to also integrate with RSA Archer Governance Risk and Compliance. RSA Archer GRC is designed to communicate risk levels with RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance, which can then be used to affect elements such as access review frequency and access request approval processes. RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance can also share the results of access reviews and policies with RSA Archer GRC, demonstrating proof of compliance with regulatory controls

Key Product Changes in RSA Via L&G 7.0

As identified in previous SCOL Notes published in May and July, there are several key product changes that customers should be aware of as they plan to upgrade to this new release.  The following changes that are included as part of this major RSA Via L&G release:

   -  Database upgrade from Oracle 11.x Standard Edition(SE) to Oracle 12c Enterprise Edition (EE)
   -  Deprecation of support for earlier Internet Explorer (IE) versions
   -  Deprecation of support for original Aveksa Security Model
   -  Deprecation of Identity Collector (IDC) groups
   -  Rejection of duplicate entitlements
   -  Rejection of cyclic groups
   -  Significant role data collector changes

RSA Via Product Branding Changes

In July, we announced that RSA Identity Management and Governance (IMG) has been rebranded to RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance (RSA Via L&G).  This followed the April announcement for RSA Via (http://rsavia.com/ ), the smart identity solution that protects from endpoint to cloud.  RSA Via L&G are crucial pillars of this solution.  And, as an IMG customer (now RSA Via L&G customer), you are already a part of the Via family.

Migration Utility Available

RSA provides a migration utility which enables you to generate reports that list issues with your current configuration and provide guidance on how to resolve those issues.  You must use the migration utility to assess the impact to your system and, if necessary, modify collectors and data before you perform an upgrade.  If no action is taken the migration will then remove all problem data that is found in these areas.

RECOMMENDATION:
RSA strongly recommends that customers upgrade to this latest release.
