AM 8.2 factory reset

Jump to solution

In the past, you could do a factory reset from the operations console. I see that option is missing. I'm reading over the documentation for 8.2 and it appears that the only way to factory reset a device is using the "install the original software image on a hardware appliance". This requires you to create an ISO on a DVD. I don't have burning software to do this. Is there any other way?

Not at this time. You need to burn the 8.2.0.0.0 hardware image to dvd and then boot off it to factory reset. There is a lot of burning software out there that can do it, or you can order a dvd from RSA and have it sent out. Contact your RSA rep for that.

Thanks for the response, Edward. Could you please request this as a future enhancement on my behalf or tell me where I can do that? I did some searching and saw where it might be put back in patch 1 but it wasn't. This is an inconvenience when you need to restore asap and don't have a burner and burner software handy and didn't realize it was removed.

Carla Bradley‌,

RFE AM-30312 was created to add the factory reset option back to Authentication Manager 8.2.    I will add your name and your company information to the list of customers requesting this.

If you have questions on the status of the RFE, please contact your RSA sales rep.

Erica

Factory reset option is currently being targeted for 8.2 SP1. The goal is to be able to perform a remote factory reset using the DRAC/ILOM.

I have 8.2 SP1 installed. Could you please tell me where I can find those instructions?

Carla Bradley‌,

Authentication Manager 8.2 SP1 has not yet been released.  What is out is Authentication Manager 8.2 patch 1, which was released two weeks ago.  Release dates are, of course, subject to change so don't hold me to this, but we are looking at Q1 of 2017 for SP1 to be available.

Erica
