You would need to check with Verizon, if their service can be implemented via HTTP(S)

Verizon's Message+ application currently supports some Advanced Mass Messaging features including typing indicators and reading receipts on select devices. These features are only available when messaging with another customer using an Advanced Messaging capable device and on the Verizon network.
