Migrate Authentication Manger 8.1SP1 to latest 8.7 via new virtual appliance
Good morning,
we are currently running an older Authentication Manager Appliance (8.1 SP1 P 09). Is there a way of backing up the current configuration and deploying a new virtual appliance with the latest version, rather than going through 7 patch cycles? If yes, is there a migration guide available?
Thank you.

Welcome to the RSA community!
We don't have a way of exporting your data from Authentication Manager 8.1 to 8.7. You will have to go through the RSA Authentication Manager upgrade process.
Some notes:
- If you are running Authentication Manager 8.1 base (no patches), you can go to Authentication Manager 8.1 SP1 then Authentication Manager 8.2.
- If you are running Authentication Manager 8.1 patch 4 or patch 5, you will need to go to Authentication Manager 8.1 SP1 > Authentication Manager 8.1 SP1 patch 15 then to Authentication Manager 8.2.
We'd recommend getting the primary all the way to Authentication Manager 8.7, remove the current replicas then build one or more new replicas (depending on your license), attach them and promote one to be the new primary. You can then remove the old primary from the deployment.
If you run into any issues, please contact support and we are happy to assist!
Best regards,
Erica
