Migration for Authentication Agent to MFA Agent - Remove Windows Password prompts?

Jump to solution

Hello,

Currently on our Authentication agent setup, users only enter their username and RSA passcode (PIN + tokencode) to login to their windows machine. In testing the MFA agent deployment, it appears that we have to use windows password then RSA tokencode to login. Is there no way to prevent the windows password prompts without having to deploy physical security keys for passwordless setup?

Why does the MFA agent not cache windows passwords like the authentication agent? With the Authentication agent support ending Sept 2022, this is going to be a huge impact to our organization.

Both MFA Agent for Windows 2.2 and Authentication Manager V8.7 SP1 are currently scheduled to be released in May 2023.

Update: AM 8.7 SP1 was released in May, and MFA Agent for Windows 2.2 was released in June.

Dear Armen,

We're currently working on adding support for WPI/Windows password caching in a newer version of the MFA Agent, which is scheduled for release during the 2nd part of 2022.

We are also extending the support period  by six months for the Authentication Agent V7.4, in order to give you and other customers more time to plan the required migration.  The support period will be updated shortly on our Product LifeCycle community page

Kind Regards

Thank you for the update. That is good to hear that it is coming. Our current on-prem soft tokens expire 12/31/22 so hoping to migrate our users to MFA tokens instead of renewing but need this feature to move forward.

Is this feature still on track for 2nd part of 2022? Any update you can provide on this would be appreciated.

Armen,

sorry for my lack of reply. For whatever (technical) reason, I should have received notices of your question in my mailbox, and I didn't. A colleague just informed me about your questions

Support of WPI in our latest generation of Windows Agent is now scheduled for the 1st half of 2023. This will require deployment of a new version of Authentication Manager (8.7 SP1), and a new version of the MFA Agent for Microsoft Windows (2.2).

SecurID Authentication Agent for Microsoft Windows 7.4 EOPS has been extended to Jan 2024. Depending on the exact release schedule of AM 8.7 SP1 and MFA Agent for Microsoft Windows Agent, I may have to extend again the EOPS for V7.4, to make sure clients like you have enough time to plan the required upgrade.

Thank you for the update. While the timeframe isn't ideal for our current situation, we are looking forward to this feature being introduced.

Do you have an updated timeline on when this will be released?

Now it's June 2023. Authentication Manager v8.7 SP1 has been released, but MFA Agent for Windows 2.2 has not been released. Any idea when MFA Agent for Windows 2.2 will be released?
