RSA SecurID Software token wants to import token every time when I open application
Hello, I have a problem with RSA SecurID Software Token. I have version 5.0.1.392. I'm importing token successfully, works fine, but when I close token application and open again, it wants to import token again (it's already done). So I have to repeat the whole importing procedure or keep token application open. I'm using Windows 10, 64-bit. Any idea why it works like this?

Disable that 3rd party software and try again from new install without that interfering.. The software token database is encrypted using Microsoft OS schemes, if any 3rd party app interferes, or you have things like a 3rd party password manager, it can prevent the software token app from reading the token database.

If it detects any token file on startup... on desktop or C:/, it tries to load it, or any .sdtid file it finds.
Hide, move, or get rid of all .sdtid files you don't want to load, and see what it does.
[Now, if somehow it is saying 'No Token' when you start it, that is a different issue entirely.]

Hi Edward. Thank for answer. Doesn't work. When token is imported it's removed from the folder. When I close and open application still wants to import token:
When I press 'Cancel' I receive the following screen
so it's different problem I think

When you import a token
it has to store it in an encrypted file, and be able to read it next time
here is mine
so
1) what is the token storage device (c drive, or elsewhere ?)
2) is it creating this file properly
3) is this file disappearing or are it permissions not set correctly so the app cannot find or read it next time ?
4) Is this a virtual desktop or xenapp ? in these cases the token database disappears each time
refer to this KB for more advice on how to install the software token app to get around this issue

I have encrypted file created correctly:
Its on my c drive, I have all rights for this folder, full permission over the file, no special attributes. And when I close application the file stays.
But when I run application I have the following pop-up from Avecto software
I give admin rights and it works, but...

Edward, thx for answer. I will investigate 3rd party soft and influence on RSA soft. This is mandatory software and I cannot just disable. I need to do it through my official support line. But at least we did some checks already. I will comeback with info if I find solution.

You can open a case if you need to...that way you can send us more details (like everything going on, logs...etc) things we cannot do on an open forum like this. But yes in general we sometimes see non-Microsoft software interfere with the stored token database and it sometimes needs workaround, or exclusions so the app can always read what is stored there.

Hello Edward
Problem solved (at the moment). Here I've did with my support
1. Add full admin rigths to my user (I had partial)
2. Remove 3rd party software
3. Remove token database (without removing doesn't work)
4. Import token once again
So far it works. I will need to install 3rd party soft again the next week (corp policy) but maybe the problem was during the token import and encryption. My support plans to setup an exception, to avoid interference between 3rd party soft and RSA soft.
Best regards,
Greg
