Unable to Complete "Primary Quick Setup" - RSA securID Access

Jump to solution

I am trying to run "Primary Quick Setup" . I imported the license zip , proceeded till we have to enter rsa super admin and rsaoc userid and passwords .

Create Super Admin User ID

Create Super Admin Password

Confirm Super Admin Password

Create OC User ID

Create OC user Password

Confirm OC user Password

Now when I click Next , I get

System Internal Error

"There was a problem processing your request. Please contact your system Administrator"

Please suggest a possible resolution.

The quickest, safest way to get this addressed will be to open a support case with RSA Support. "System Internal Error" can have more than one cause, and it's possible that we'll need to see data more specific about your installation than you would wish to have exposed in this public forum.

That said, if you can get into the file system via the VM console or direct connection to the hardware appliance, the installation logs in /opt/rsa/am/install_logs might contain a clue as to what happened.

Sure Will do that . Please find the detailed steps mentioned below and please suggest any possible resolution .

Adding to this , I am seeing the below FATAL Error message on "step number 17" mentioned in the below list.

....

RSA Quick Setup [RUNNING]
Starting vmtoolsd FATAL " Error inserting vmw_balloon (/lib/modules/3.0.101-180.18-default/kernel/drivers/misc/vmw_balloon.lo): No such device

.....

Steps followed :-

1. Launch Virtual Box

2. Click -> File -> Import Appliance -> Locate the rsa-am-vmware-virtual-appliance-8.3.0.0.0.ova file

3. Click Open

4. "Reinitialize the MAC address of all network cards" is already unchecked.

5. Click Import

6. Importing virtual disk image "RSA_Authentication_manager.x86_64.8.3.0-disk1.vmdk1..

7. It takes about 2-3 minutes to complete this

8. Select the new vm

9. Click Start

10. Oracle VM Virtual Box starts

11. A green color screen appears and gives us two options :-

RSA Authentication Manager [ VMX ]

Failsafe -- RSA Authentication Manager [ VMX ]

12. The default selection is already the first one , RSA Authentication Manager [ VMX ]

13. It also displays "Boot options" , which is currently empty and I have not typed anything in this text box .

14. I press Enter

15. Then we see config happening

"Proparing Preinit Phase"

"Booting system"

"Creating mkinitrd" based initrd

....

16. It now asks for :-

Fully qualified hostname :- rsa19XXX.com

IP Address:-  IXXXX ----> I give an IP address in the same domain as the Windows HOST machine on which I am running this. For RSA7.0 , we used to get a IP Address flashed for a second , right before we get to this step number 16.

Subnet Mask:- xxxxxx

Default Gateway:- XXXXX

17. I press Enter ,  It asks if settings are correct and proceed (y/n), I enter y

RSA Quick Setup [RUNNING]
Starting vmtoolsd FATAL " Error inserting vmw_balloon (/lib/modules/3.0.101-180.18-default/kernel/drivers/misc/vmw_balloon.lo): No such device
...

18. It gives us the Quick Setup URL
and the Qucik Setup Access Code

19. Now when I Start the "primary quick setup " and proceed till the page where we have to enter rsaoc and rsasuper admin user password , and

20. Click Next, Here I get the Intermal Error Message .

Aha.  Oracle Virtual Box is not on the list of supported platforms for the Authentication Manager virtual appliance. The list is given in the RSA AM8.3 Authentication Manager Setup and Configuration Guide.   I suspect there are differences between the Oracle and VMware platform environments that could account for the errors you see.
