Updating our RSA environment, where to begin?

Hi ,

In the past former colleague was responsible regarding the implementation of updates to our RSA environment. This colleague has been away for some time now and since then we are lagging behind installing updates for the RSA environment. I have been given the task to update our environment but I have no experience with this ^_^

Can you help me on my way?  Currently we have this version installed:

Product:                              RSA Authentication Manager

Version:                                8.1 SP 1 P 14

Hostname:                            <redacted>

Version Install Date:           2016-05-04 17:10:53

Regards,
Mark

J. Verhoeks‌,

To upgrade from Authentication Manager 8.1 SP 1 P 14 to the most recent release, which is 8.2 SP1 patch 7, start with reading Appendix A of the RSA Authentication Manager 8.2 SP1 Setup and Configuration Guide.  This covers upgrading to RSA Authentication Manager 8.2 SP 1.

To download Authentication Manager 8.2 SP 1, please review 000034558 - How to download RSA Authentication Manager 8.x full kits and service packs from RSA Link

The most recent patch for Authentication Manager 8.2 SP 1 is patch 7.  Patches are cumulative you once you have 8.2 SP1 installed, you can go right to RSA Authentication Manager 8.2 SP1 Patch 7 - Update Download.  If you use the web tier, also download and install the RSA Authentication Manager 8.2 SP1 Patch 7 - Web-Tier Server Download.

all patches must be done on primary first, then replica, for each patch. No vertical upgrades.

starting at 8.1.1.14.0 where you are now

a) am-update-8.2.0.0.0 - 8.2

b) am-update-8.2.1.0.0 - 8.2 sp1

c) am-update-8.2.1.7.0 - 8.2 sp1 patch 7

d) if you have web tiers

uninstall then reinstall using am-webtier-8.2.1.7.0 full installer

Thank you for your answer. I will dive into this and set up a plan to implement the updates

Do you have any idea how much time it takes to install all the updates, and that our environment can not be used?

Per server, ~20 minutes or less. Typically 15. Only one server needs to be offline at a time. Replication will break when primary is 8.2 and replicas are still 8.1.x...until the replica(s) are patched to 8.2.
