Issue
After modifying one or more user database passwords in RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle, the RSA Identity Governance & Liafecycle application is inaccessible:
Initialization Status
Unable to get the acmdb connection. Verify that the database is available and a connection to the avdb database can be made with the acmdb credentials
Image description
Cause
When modifying the clear text password of one of the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle database users (AVUSER, AVDWUSER, ACMDB, PERFSTAT, and SYS) in
$AVEKSA_HOME/Aveksa_System.cfg, the braces surrounding the password were not removed. Unless the braces are part of the password, the braces need to be removed when making the password edits. In the above example, the
acmdb user password had been modified.
In the screenshot below, note the braces surrounding the example password:

Resolution
This issue is resolved in RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle 7.0.1 and higher.
The braces have been removed from the example passwords in
$AVEKSA_HOME/Aveksa_System.cfg as shown in the following screenshot:

Workaround
The workaround is to remove the braces from the password field when updating user database passwords.
Notes
Instructions for modifying the user database passwords are in the
RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle Installation Guide. Use the latest version of the Installation Guide even if that is not your version. The instructions have been improved in later versions.
