RSA Announces the Availability of June 2017 RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle Appliance Updater Release

Summary:

RSA announces the availability of the June 2017 Appliance Updater release for the RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle product.  This quarterly release enables customers to update their hardware appliances with the latest database and operating system patches.  Customers with soft appliance deployments can update their environment with the latest database updates, if leveraging the RSA provided database.

This quarterly release of the Appliance Updater helps us to align with the vendor patch updates for the database and operating system.

Patching the operating system and database components is integral to the security of your environment.  To ensure that hardware appliance and soft appliance installations maintain the most up-to-date patches for these components, RSA provides the Appliance Updater, which bundles a certified patch set for the operating system (SUSE or Red Hat) and the local RSA supplied Oracle database.  Downloading and running the latest appliance updater closes vulnerabilities and bugs addressed by the patches.  The Appliance Updater is cumulative.  It includes all previous patches.  The Appliance Updater does not patch the RSA product itself.

Appliance Updater files are available for the following customer environment configurations:

  • RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle version 7.0.1, 7.0.2 or later, all patch levels:
    • Oracle 12c and SUSE deployments
    • Oracle 12c and Red Hat deployments -- Reference update on RHEL 5 Support below

  • RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance (RSA Via L&G) version 7.0.0, all patch levels:
    • Oracle 12c and SUSE deployments
    • Oracle 12c and Red Hat deployments -- Reference update on RHEL 5 Support below

  • RSA Identity Management and Governance (RSA IMG) versions 6.9.0, or 6.9.1, all patch levels:
    • Oracle 11g and SUSE deployments
    • Oracle 11g and Red Hat deployments -- Reference update on RHEL 5 Support below

Please reference the RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle Appliance Updater Guide available on the RSA Link downloads pages noted below for the specific supported configurations for the Appliance Updater.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Support

The June 2017 Appliance Updater includes limited security updates and fixes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL 5). RHEL 5 has reached the end of Production Phase 3 support as of March 31, 2017 (Reference: https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata ).

Customers who still have RHEL 5 as the operating system on their RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle hardware appliance are strongly encouraged upgrade to the SUSE 11 SP3 operating system to continue to receive the latest security updates and more comprehensive support.  Additional information about installing the new operating system for the RSA Hardware Appliance can be found at: https://community.rsa.com/docs/DOC-45515

*** Warning: Installation of the Operating System on the Hardware Appliances will erase all data on the machines. Please ensure that all relevant data is properly backed up prior to initiating the upgrade.

Future major/minor version releases of RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle will no longer support installation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

If additional information is required, please contact RSA Customer Support.
