After installing SP4 on SUSE 11, Oracle errors are seen when starting the Oracle database and severe performance degradation occurs causing the application to become unusable.

Sometimes ORA-04030 errors are seen as well:

Depending on the operating system kernel level, the upgrade to SP4 of SUSE 11 may cause this issue.
