Upgrading Data Reach Components

Data Reach has two critical third party components, the Apache Tomcat and AdoptOpenJDK (JRE). You should upgrade these components periodically to keep up with the latest security fixes. This guide provides you options to upgrade these individual components without having to upgrade the complete Data Reach solution.

Tomcat

This section provides step by step instructions for upgrading the embedded Tomcat.

Steps

1. Download the latest 9.0.x Tomcat binaries from https://tomcat.apache.org/
2. Stop the Master Controller

   /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/datareach_shutdown.sh​

3. Navigate to /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/tomcat/binaries folder
4. Delete all the contents under this folder
5. Extract the Tomcat distribution under this path
6. Navigate to /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/scripts and run the following script

   setperms.sh​

7. Start the Master Controller

   /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/datareach_startup.sh​

JRE

This section provides step by step instructions for upgrading the embedded JRE.

Steps

1. Download the latest JRE binaries from https://adoptium.net 
2. Stop the Master Controller

   /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/datareach_shutdown.sh​

3. Navigate to /opt/rsa/datareach/ folder
4. Delete the java folder
5. Extract the JRE distribution under this path
6. Navigate to /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/scripts and run the following script

   setperms.sh​

7. Start the Master Controller

   /opt/rsa/datareach/mastercontroller/datareach_startup.sh​

8. Repeat the above steps if you have one or more agents deployed on other systems.
