I need to reduce the number of characters to display in an identity collector
Can you clarify your question with an example and additional details?
What product version are you using?
What type of identity collector are you configuring (DB , AD or other)?
What is the issue you are encountering?
Hi Boris. We are using VIA version 7. My issue is with an AD Identity Collector. The needed attribute was set with only allowing 25 characters and the value is greater than that. I am trying to determine if I can set the value to only capture the first 25 characters of the data in the collection since I cannot modify the attribute character limit and need to place this data in this attribute. Is there script that can be applied to the collection attribute to limit the number of characters?
As far as I know, there is no "clean" way to limit the number of characters.
Is creating a new attribute and collecting to it an option for you?
I guess it really depends at what stage of the project you are at (fully deployed in PROD or just started the implementation)
Thanks for the response Boris. We are still working on the POC and I know we can create a new attribute to address this – I was just wondering if we could avoid adding clutter to the POC since we intended to migrate the POC to production. I know there are tables behind the database that can potentially be modified for items like this. If we have no other option I will create a new attribute to address this for now.
check this post: Size of Attribute Values
The post above is similar but it refers to accounts attributes and not user attributes
Thanks Boris. This is what I remembered and I believe we could make the change if we had the necessary permissions and the SQL Developer tool. I will reach out to our support team for assistance to make the change.
