I want to do some patch management on the RSA Authentication Manager and all my version states is 8.1, how can I check if or what patches are already installed?
If the version information is just showing 8.1, then the server is running the base version of the product with no service packs or patches.
To start patching, download RSA Authentication Manager 8.1 SP1 download , which is the VMware Virtual and Hardware Appliance Update that will get you to Service Pack 1. Patches are cumulative so you can go directly to the most recent patch. Click the link to get the patch, checksum and readme in one place for RSA Authentication Manager 220.127.116.11.
Next, take a look at the Authentication Manager 8.1.1.02 Web-Tier Update Readme before installing the RSA Authentication Manager 8.1.1.02 Web Tier Update.
Step three would be to download and install the RSA Authentication Manager 8.1 Service Pack 1 Third-Party Patch after installing patch 15. Be sure to review the Authentication Manager 8.1.1 Third-party Patch 2.0 Readme first.
Before you start installing, it's a good idea to take a backup of the database from the Operations Console (Maintenance > Backup and Restore > Back Up Now).
I've moved this thread to the RSA SecurID Access page so that you can get an answer to your question.
If you login to your Authentication Manager Security Console, on the Home tab is a link for Software Version Information.
Clicking on it will bring up information on your current service pack and patch level for your primary and replica(s), as seen here (yes, my lab system is outdated):
The most recent version of Authentication Manager 8.1 is SP1 patch 15 (18.104.22.168). What version are you seeing on your servers?
I am seeing version 8.1. That is all the information that the software version information screen is providing me. I am trying to find out if there have been any patches applied to this before I apply the SP1 update to the box.
If the show version only shows 8.1, that would be with no patches, but if you'd like to double-check, and see any patch history, use the Operations Console - Maintenance - Update and Roll back.
Even if you are at base AM 8.1, you can still apply SP1 without applying any 8.1 patches. AM patches are roll-up. Then once at AM 8.1 SP1, you can apply the latest patch, I believe it's patch 15, to get to AM 8.1 SP1 P15. 2 patches gets you there. Do Primary first. Replica does not have to be done immediately, but do not wait months or years to be on the safe side. Also you can always Roll back the latest patch, but not 2 patches.
