Is there a big impact if need to rename or change the IP of the replica appliance?
Thanks for your help.
I had the same question, but found the answer here.
Change the Replica Instance IPv4 Network Settings
Change the Primary Instance IPv4 Network Settings
Thanks for helping out!

Hi Erica, sorry for the delayed response. I’ve been away on vacation.
I read over the instructions but I’m dealing with VM Appliances. Ultimately the need to change IP info on the replica is driven by a VM move from one VM environment to another within the organization between two geographical locations. According to the Vm backup team, we will need to power down the VM and back it up and then restore it to the other site (using the underlying VM files). The restored VM in it’s new esx host environment will need to have a new IP to match the new location before it can communicate on the site's network. Is there any additional information or steps available for dealing with a VM move? I’m wondering if it might be easier to deploy a new replica VM appliance and pair it with the primary instead of moving the existing replica but I believe we are only licensed to have one replica so that may not be as easy as it sounds.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
The AM Appliance replica IP address change was tested under the assumption that the replica could communicate with the Primary, so looking at all the steps in the Replica IP address change link provided by Erica, you'll need to coordinate the AM appliance IP address change with the VMware move. At some point in the list of steps involved in changing the replica IP in AM, you'll have to insert a shut it down from Linux, then shut it down in VM, then move it and bring it up in the new ESX server, it will have its new IP address, then continue any steps not finished in the IP address change instructions such as rebuild any trust relationships.
Worst case, it's a replica, deploy a new one.
Were you able to successfully re-IP your primary and replica Authentication Manager servers?Regards,
Yes I was. There was a chapter in the AM admin guide that stepped through it and all is good.
Thanks for the follow up.
