Hi All,
DAG to collect from their EMC Isilon storage devices.
Per Stealthbits, this is covered under their RSA licensing contract and should not present any major technical performance problems.
Can this be configured OOTB? How the data is storing in our database? Does it require customization? functionality/feasibility etc….?
Any thoughts would be helpful !!
Thanks,
Mani.
If DAG is installed and being used in the environment, it's best to use STEALTHbits. Crawling the entire folder structure, or parts thereof, is efficiently completed by STEALTHbits with all of the information made available for consumption.
Isilon's use a BSD based OS, OneFS. There is no easier way of querying the folder structure and contents as it is presented as a NAS, not file/folder structure in a database. I'll have to talk to one of my Isilon colleagues to find out what can be gathered using the Isilon REST commands.
Crawling and recording the structure could be done using custom scripts that output to a separate CSV or database, but it's ultimately replicating the work that STEALTHbits does and would require constant attention to ensure things are working and maintained. The DAG module also allows for the review of ownership and validation of files/folders and suggested owners OOTB.
Reinventing the data collection and all functionality without using DAG would take significant effort, and in some cases may not be feasible.
