Architectural overview of Cordova platform - Apache Cordova
It allows you to use standard web technologies - HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for cross-platform development. Applications execute within wrappers targeted to each platform(iOS and Android), and rely on standards-compliant API bindings to access each device's capabilities. Below is the link for the complete architecture of Cordova.
Cordova plugins provide an interface for Cordova and native components to communicate with each other and bindings to standard device APIs. This enables you to invoke native code from JavaScript. As it uses it's own engine to interact with the native components, we are not sure about the security aspects of it.
Below are some of important points on cordova plugin's
1. Native languages are much faster than JavaScript for data processing on the device.
2. Most of the applications/SDK's rely on background threads to provide a smooth user experience, Cordova plugin's are built using JavaScript which is not multi-threaded and hence do not
support background processing completly as native.
3. Android and iOS native APIs are not yet supported completly by cordova.
6. As the cordova is completely dependent on the native Webview(Android)/Webkit(iOS), it is recommended only for smaller apps having less data manipulation and limited access to native API's.
As per our basic preliminary analysis on Cordova plugin, our SDK's dependent on large number of native utility API's and security API's,
Thus, it is not advisable to support Cordova plugin's.
