I am preparing to upgrade my RSA Authentication Manager from 8.1.15 to 8.4. Do you need to reinstall the Webtier after upgrading AM to 8.4?
Yes, there is a new web tier for all major versions including 184.108.40.206.0 base version, inside each [version number]...extras.iso.
NOTE: there is a new web tier for patch 220.127.116.11.0, so best bet is put 8.4 patch 1 on the primary and replica(s), and then skip installing 18.104.22.168.0 web tier. Instead, install the web tier 22.214.171.124.0, using a new web tier package from the primary operations console after you install 8.4 patch 1 on primary.

Simply run the uninstaller on the current web tier, manually delete any leftover directories, reinstall with new web tier installer and new web tier package.
All new major versions will have a new web tier, but only sometimes we have a new web tier for a minor patch. In this case minor patch 8.4 patch 1 does have a new web tier along with it. This is because some web tier internal components cannot be upgraded over the network, so we release a new full installer for web tier when that occurs.
