Ours is a software appliance and it is a basic upgrade situation. We are upgrading to 7.1.1 on the same server on which 7.0.2 version was deployed.
I am following the document - "Upgrade and Migration Guide 7.1.1" for upgrading from 7.0.2 to 7.1.1.
I believe running the install.sh (page 33) upgrades the software and does the migration as well.
During the execution of install.sh I could see that the migration was happening.
Also after the install.sh script completed the execution, I confirmed that migration has indeed been completed by checking the "/home/oracle/database/log/migrate.log".
At this point the application is up and everything seems fine.
My question is-
Is the step "Import the RSA-Supplied Database Backup and Migrate the Database" in page 35 required at all in my case?
I did back up the Database but that was as a safety measure and don't see a point to re-import it again and run migrate on it just because the document has these steps.
Might be a documentation thing that needs to be fixed. As long as you see all your data post-migration, there is no need to re-import the dump.
I would recommend you log a case with RSA Support referencing this post and document so it can be fixed if needed.
