We're trying to set up a SNMP alert based on MIB file but we're not getting the result we're expecting. we want the SNMP alert to be set up for replication status.
Download the mib file from the RSA Authentication Manager Security Console, setup, system settings, network monitoring, pick the primary, mib file, download:
What in particular are you having issues with ? I use snmp on my systems and don't seem to have issues.
Replication status is something I monitor with a script that converts the string value to a number, then I graph it.
Example: This is replica replication status taken from my primary.
I do not use authentication as I am in a lab using my own home-spun graphing
and I haven't set up snmpv3 authentication...therefore my example is extremely basic.
a) portion of my script
that fetches replica replication status from primary and assigns a numeric value based on a string
OUTPUT2="$(/usr/bin/snmpget -v3 -l noauthnopriv -u snmpuser 10.101.99.150 188.8.131.52.4.1.2184.108.40.206.5.1)"
RESULT2="$(echo $OUTPUT2 | cut -d '"' -f2)"
if [ $RESULT2 == "HEALTHY" ]; then echo "4"elif [ $RESULT2 == "OUT_OF_SYNC" ]; then echo "3"elif [ $RESULT2 == "OFFLINE" ]; then echo "2"else echo "1"
(possible values are
b) snmpget on that OID replica replication status from the primary
[root@edavis-vm162]# snmpget -v3 -l noauthnopriv -u snmpuser 10.101.99.150 220.127.116.11.4.1.218.104.22.168.5.1SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.222.214.171.124.5.1 = STRING: "HEALTHY"
c) snmpget on the primary replication status from the primary
[root@edavis-vm162 ]# snmpget -v3 -l noauthnopriv -u snmpuser 10.101.99.150 126.96.36.199.4.1.2188.8.131.52.5.0SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2184.108.40.206.5.0 = STRING: "HEALTHY"
d) Example of a few months of graphs....
this is a lab machine so there are many instances of replication not working
as I am always messing around with the lab: some were offline, some were out_of_sync
based on my homemade script assigning a number to the string
4 is healthy, 3 is out of sync, 2 is offline, 1 is anything else (essentially if not 4, it is not replicating).
