We have email approval enabled for pretty much all our different approval scenarios but, inevitably, some people do not complete their tasks by the due date … so we have typical escalations setup, i.e. now overdue please approve, STILL overdue please approve NOW, OVERDUE - APPROVE OR REQUEST WILL BE CANCELLED. That sort of thing.
The trouble is some users (other more descriptive words available) then reply Approved to the escalation email, despite the PLEASE NOTE: Do not reply to this email with Approve or Reject text included.
Is there any way at all to "enable" email approval for replies to escalation emails for approval tasks that could be approved by email? Can we include some additional content, reference, etc. that will allow the reply to be tied back to the original approval request? This is a real pain and wasting our support team's time.
First off, I think this is a really good idea which needs to be looked at by us. Going back to find the original email to reply to, when you have clearly missed it, isn't a great user experience.
There isn't any out-of-the-box way to do so, however trying to be creative … maybe you can reconstruct the approve/reject links in your escalation email using workflow variables and some dark magic SQL nodes :)
Take a look at Accept & Reject buttons in approval notification . Seems if you just add the "Message Reference ID" to any email's subject, then you can reply to that email. I'm wondering how we can pass that variable to your escalation workflows?
