Do I need a device profile to use RSA SecurID Desktop Token 5.0.2 for Windows to install a SecurID Software Token using RSA Authentication Manager? Does it use a normal software token?

It uses a normal software token. A profile is not a strict requirement, but it prevents you from choosing incompatible settings. Profile that matches the token app can set the device type/serial number to match the version of software token app ahead of time. Profile Desktop 5.x would be the current version, but you can use any profile as long as the settings match what the app can do (it can do ct-kip but not QR code for example). Profiles that match the app and version ensure you only chose settings that the application can do, and incompatible settings are blocked, but if you have a token with correct settings it can install.
