Setup basic High Availability using enVision NIC SFTP agent

Discussion created by RSA Admin Employee on Jun 26, 2008

If you are using enVision SFTP agents and you require HA functionality for that log device or sytem,

This is how to setup basic HA functionality.

  1. Install the NIC SFTP Agent locally on the log device/system using the default install directory.
  2. Stop the NIC SFTP Agent service running on the log device system
  3. Export the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NIC SFTP Agent"
  4. Rename the original key entry to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NIC SFTP Agent 2"
  5. Change the key entry 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NIC SFTP Agent 2\ImagePath"  to  c:\NICsftpagent2\nicsftpagent.exe
  6. Change key entry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NIC SFTP Agent 2\DisplayName"  to NIC SFTP AGENT 2
  7. Copy c:\NICsftpagent\ folder to c:\NICsftpagent2
  8. Reboot the log device system. You will now have two services of NIC SFTP Agent one on c:\NICsftpagent and the other on c:\NICsftpagent2
  9. Configure on each NIC SFTP agent individually (following the NIC SFTP installation guide) the IP address of the receiving Log collector appliance (for example, agent1 to an active envision appliance, agent2 to an envision standby or additional active appliance.
