There are times when previously working AFX installations fail. For example the AFX Server will not start, or the AFX connectors will not deploy, or the AFX connectors will not go into a running state. Attempts to resolve the problem also fail. In these scenarios, downloading and reinstalling the AFX Server Archive usually resolves the problem. RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle Support will often ask you to perform this procedure if you have not already done so when reporting an AFX issue. This article presents step by step instructions on how to download and install the AFX Server Archive.

IMPORTANT:

For steps on performing a new installation of AFX or a complete re-installation of AFX, please see RSA Knowledge Base Article 000034089 -- How to install Access Fulfillment Express (AFX) for use with RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle.

These are the steps for downloading and reinstalling the AFX Server Archive component on an RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle appliance using the AFXServer.zip generated from the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle Administrative console.
  1. Login to the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle user Interface (for example, https://igl.yourcompany.com/aveksa/main).
  2. Download the AFXServer.zip from the user interface under AFXServers > AFX ServerDownload Server Archive.

  1. Transfer the AFXServer.zip from your PC to the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle appliance using a tool like WinSCP or another SFTP client and place the file under /home/{afxuser}.
  2. Login to the application server as the afx user.
  3. Shutdown AFX if it exists, and check that no AFX processes remain. Note: Always stop AFX as the afx user.
service afx_server stop
ps -ef | grep AFX
  1. Kill any remaining AFX processes, where xxxx are any AFX processes still running:
kill -9 xxxx
  1. Backup the pre-existing AFX directory, if it exists.
mv AFX AFX.backup<date>
  1. Expand the AFX Server Archive.
unzip AFXServer.zip
  1. Navigate to the AFX bin directory and run the script to set permissions:
cd /home/{afxuser}/AFX/bin
sh ./setPerms.sh
  1. Start AFX. Note: Always start AFX as the afx user.
service afx_server start
  1. Launch the RSA Identity Governance & Lifecycle user interface and check the status of the AFX Server and AFX connectors and make sure they are all in a Running state.
