RSA Version/Condition:  RSA SecurID Appliance 3.0
IssueThe RSA SecurID Appliance 3.0 uses Dell PowerEdge server hardware, but only the newer versions of this hardware can be upgraded to Authentication Manager 8.1.

It is possible to use the Dell Service Tag to find the type of PowerEdge hardware in the deployment.
Alternatively, gather the information from command line:
  • If there is no physical access to the appliance, SSH to the appliance.
  • If there is physical access to the console, connect a monitor, USB mouse and keyboard to the appliance.
  • If using the 2U/A250 version of the RSA SecurID Appliance and the Dell Remote Access Controller (DRAC) has been properly configured, this can also be used to get command-line access.

For the RSA SecurID Appliance 3.0 running on a 1U/A130 server

For the RSA SecurID Appliance 3.0 hardware, find the model information using the steps below:
Login as: emcsrv
emcsrv@hostname.company.com's password:   <enter the OS user password>
Last login: Tue May 20 08:53:40 2014 from 10.20.30.40
-bash-3.00$ omreport chassis info
Chassis Information
Index                                    : 0
Chassis Name                             : Main System Chassis
Host Name                                : hostname.company.com
BMC Version                              : 1.79
Chassis Model                            : PowerEdge R200

Chassis Service Tag                      : 14HKTJ1
Chassis Asset Tag                        :
Flash chassis identify LED state         : Off
Flash chassis identify LED timeout value : 300
-bash-3.00$

This example above shows the chassis model is an R200, which cannot be upgraded to Authentication Manager 8.1.
To determine if the hardware on an Authentication Manager 8.1 server is Dell, Intel or VMware ESXi, run the commands below:

login as: rsaadmin
Using keyboard-interactive authentication.
Password:  <enter OS user password>
Last login: Thu Aug 20 13:05:57 2015 from 192.168.2.102
RSA Authentication Manager Installation Directory: /opt/rsa/am
rsaadmin@am81p:~> sudo su
rsaadmin's password:   <enter OS user password again>
am81p:/home/rsaadmin # dmidecode | grep Manufacturer

The following options are the results that may be displayed:
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Manufacturer: VMWare, Inc.
Manufacturer: EMC
Manufacturer: Intel

    Notes
    • The RSA SecurID Appliance 3.0 on an A130 server was shipped with 4 GB of RAM. The new A130 server with Authentication Manager 8.1 ships with 8 GB of RAM.
    • The RSA SecurID Appliance 3.0 on an A250 server was shipped with 8 GB of RAM, but the 32-bit rPath Linux OS could only access 4 GB of RAM.  The  Authentication Manager 8.1 upgrade uses 64-bit SUSE Linux and can access all 8 GB. The new A250 server with Authentication Manager 8.1 is shipped with 16 GB of RAM.
    • Some of the hardware appliances running Authentication Manager 8.1 are shipped in certain geographical areas with non-Dell-brand hardware. These servers are already running Authentication Manager 8.1 or higher, so upgrading them to Authentication Manager 8.1 is not relevant.
