Issue

When adding an Identity Source via the RSA Via Administration Console you may get an error such as the following when trying to synchronize it.

Reason: Invalid credential.

Cause

The credentials to connect to your Active Directory / LDAP server was set to use a simple username rather than a binding DN.

Resolution

Edit your Identity Source's associated Directory Server credentials. For "Username", instead of a simple username such as "Administrator", instead use "CN=Administrator,CN=Users,DC=example,DC=com" or administrator@example.com.
