Issue
RSA Authentication Manager can be deployed in Amazon Web Services (AWS) using an RSA-provided Amazon Machine Image (AMI). Because the AMI must be shared directly by RSA with your specific AWS account, existing Authentication Manager customers are required to open an RSA Support case to initiate access. This article covers what information to include in the support case and what to expect after the request is submitted.
Prerequisites:
  • An active RSA Authentication Manager license for version 8.6, 8.7, or 8.8
  • An active AWS account (Commercial or GovCloud)
  • Your AWS 12-digit account number (available from your AWS Management Console)

Resolution

Task 1: Submit an RSA Support Case

Step 1: Contact RSA Support to open a new support case. You may use the RSA Support web portal or call RSA Support directly.
Step 2: If using the web portal, set the case fields as follows:
Case Subject SecurID: AMI files request
RSA Version/Condition: The Authentication Manager version you are requesting (e.g., 8.7, 8.8)

Step 3: Include the following information in the case description:
    • Your AWS 12-digit account number (e.g., ABC123456789; DEF123456789; 321123456789 )
    • The Authentication Manager AMI version requested (e.g., 8.7, 8.8)
ℹ️ NOTE: Your AWS 12-digit account number may appear as part of your Amazon login in the format account/userid@1234-5678-9012. The 12-digit number is mandatory — RSA cannot share the AMI without it.

Task 2: Locate and Launch the Shared AMI in AWS

Step 1: Log in to your AWS Management Console and navigate to EC2.
Step 2: In the EC2 dashboard, go to Images > AMIs.
Step 3: Change the search filter from Public to Private.
Step 4: Search for the keyword Authentication (do not search for AM).
Step 5: Confirm the RSA Authentication Manager AMI shared by RSA appears in the results.
Step 6: Select the AMI and follow the deployment steps in the RSA Authentication Manager AMI Getting Started guide for your version (see Notes).

ℹ️ NOTE: Configure your AWS Security Group to allow access from your site to the AWS private VPN cloud on the network ports required for Authentication Manager. If a specific Security Group cannot be applied, you may use the default Security Group — however, some Authentication Manager functionality may not work correctly, including initial deployment.
