- Browser and access to the internet to download files.
- The eight (8) files listed below from Dell web sites.
- Access to the console or iDRAC for each appliance to upgrade.
- WinSCP or other tool to copy files to the appliances to upgrade.
Resolution
Download the recommended files from the Dell URLs listed below.
Stage the files to each appliance and upgrade the appliance following the instructions provided.
This process will require one or more reboots.
Download Files
BIOS update file BIOS_V7P04_LN_2.2.3.BIN.
BIOS readme.txt file R620_BIOS_02_02_03_Release_Notes.txt.
Lifecycle Controller update file Lifecycle-Controller_Legacy_Application_TR4J7_LN_1.4.2.12_A00.BIN
Lifecycle Controller readme.txt file LC2 1 4 2_A00_ReleaseNotes.txt.

Review the Release Notes for Each Package
Please read each release note for each package and only proceed when the upgrade steps are clear. Failure to follow the directions may render your appliance unbootable.
Stage Files to Appliance
Copy the executable filess to each appliance to be upgraded, mark the files executable, and then run the files in the following order, rebooting when prompted.
It is recommended to upgrade via the iDRAC or at the console rather than an SSH session.
- Logon to the appliance as root.
- Create a folder named /tmp/Dell/Firmware: mkdir /tmp/Dell/Firmware
- Change to the staging folder: cd /tmp/Dell/Firmware
- Copy the 8 files listed above to /tmp/Dell/Firmware.
- Change each file to executable: chmod +x /tmp/Dell/Firmware/*.BIN
- Upgrade each package as indicated below, rebooting the appliance as prompted.
This upgrade does NOT require a restart.
- Logon to the appliance as root.
- Change to the staging folder: cd /tmp/Dell/Firmware
- Execute the Lifecycle Controler update package: ./tmp/Dell/Firmware/Lifecycle-Controller_Legacy_Application_TR4J7_LN_1.4.2.12_A00.BIN
- Follow the prompts on screen until the process is complete.
This upgrade requires a restart.
- Logon to the appliance as root.
- Change to the staging folder: cd /tmp/Dell/Firmware
- Execute the PERC H710p update package: ./tmp/Dell/Firmware/SAS-RAID_Firmware_YVY96_LN_21.3.0-0009_A05.BIN
- Follow the prompts on screen until the process is complete.
- Reboot the appliance when instructed.
This upgrade requires a restart.
- Logon to the appliance as root.
- Change to the staging folder: cd /tmp/Dell/Firmware
- Execute the PERC H710p update package: ./tmp/Dell/Firmware/SAS-RAID_Firmware_RGPN4_LN_21.3.0-0009_A05.BIN
- Follow the prompts on screen until the process is complete.
- Reboot the appliance when instructed.
This upgrade requires a restart.
- Logon to the appliance as root.
- Change to the staging folder: cd /tmp/Dell/Firmware
- Execute the PERC H710p update package: ./tmp/Dell/Firmware/BIOS_V7P04_LN_2.2.3.BIN
- Follow the prompts on screen until the process is complete.
- Reboot the appliance when instructed.
