Recommendation

RSA announces critical updates for RSA Authentication Manager (AM) and RSA Identity Router (IDR) to address a security vulnerability in the RADIUS protocol. Detailed information about the security vulnerability can be found here.

For details on enabling the Message-Authenticator attribute, refer to: Before you apply the patch/hotfix, ensure that the vendor RADIUS clients support the message authenticator attribute in response. The configuration added in RSA ID Plus products can ignore message authenticator attribute in request. RSA recommends checking with the vendor for fix of BlastRadius vulnerability and apply the fixes immediately. This must be done in conjunction with an RSA ID Plus component patch/upgrade and enabling message authenticator configuration.

RSA recommends taking a backup of your AM system before applying the patch/hotfix as it cannot be rolled back.

RSA strongly recommends applying these critical updates (AM Hotfix / IDR Update), at the earliest opportunity, on the following affected RSA products:

Affected ProductHotfix/Update
 Authentication Manager 8.7 SP2 Authentication Manager 8.7 SP2 Patch 3
 Authentication Manager 8.7 SP1 Authentication Manager 8.7 SP1 Patch 3 Hotfix 1*

Authentication Manager 8.6 Authentication Manager 8.6 Patch 4 Hotfix 1*
