Issue
There was a problem processing your request. License violation, active user limit exceeded.
Resolution
When the license limit is exceeded, the administrator can no longer assign tokens or fixed passcodes to users; however, authentication will continue for those existing users with tokens assigned.
A license that has exceeded the active user limit means that you will need to do one of the following in order to assign tokens to new users:
- Upgrade your license to accommodate the number of users to whom you wish to assign tokens, and/or
- Run reports on the current users with tokens in your database and do some housekeeping to unassign tokens from users that no longer need them. See the RSA Authentication Manager 8.3 Administrator's Guide for information on licenses.
Here are examples of errors that will be seen when exceeding the active user limit with an RSA Authentication Manager 8.3 primary that has a ten user license installed.
- When nine users have been assigned one or more tokens/fixed passcode:
Warning: Your system has exceeded 85% of the licensed user limit.
| Status | Licensed Feature | Limit | Actual |
| Approaching Limit | Users with Assigned Authenticators | 10 | 9 |
- Nine users have assigned token(s) or a fixed passcode. An administrator assigns a single token or fixed passcode to a user who had not previously had a token or fixed passcode assigned:

| Status | Licensed Feature | Limit | Actual |
| Approaching Limit | Users with Assigned Authenticators | 10 | 10 |
